small update

My PC laptop is lame. Although Dav's Mac has fabulous wifi connection in the apartment we're at, my laptop sees the network, yet won't budge about connecting. I've spent 3 hours so far between yesterday and today in an internet cafe using their cable to connect so I can do a bit of work (I decided to keep a few duties while away to ease the burden on my team). I'm all caught up now. However, I had downloaded several pics I've taken to my laptop, and was so happy to have finished work, I forgot to blog them today. In the future, I should have better connection, or download to Dav's laptop, but for now, nada.

Update-wise, after being so tired from the trip that we spent yesterday afternoon snoozing, I feel great. Tesla is happy too, with no idea how far away from home we are. We have shopped at the local supermarket, had amazing ceviche for brunch, and have walked around just a little. We're quite happy that we have 5 days here again after Buenos Aires because we want to visit the beach, museums, and ruins, which we won't get to this time since we are leaving the day after tomorrow.

For now, we're totally chilling. Some notes so far:
* Drivers are crazy. They won't stop for you, so be careful. Everyone honks for seemingly no good reason, but this makes street life quite colorful.
* Meals are later than what we're used to. We arrive in restaurants well before anyone else which is great so Tesla can run around without bothering anyone.
* I wish I spoke at least a little Spanish. I'm a pathetic foreigner here...I use French words and it works pretty well, but still...
* Now that I'm caught up with work, and won't have too much each day, I'm finally realizing, "holy cow, I'm in Lima, Peru!!!" Never thought I'd be here, but thanks to Tesla for whom we made this pit-stop before heading all the way down to Buenos Aires, we're here. I love totally new places. And this is new.
* Amenities work fine in our apartment, but we're in a nice area in a nice place. There is a nice lady who guards the entrance way even though there is a locked gate. I've seen guards at several nice-looking houses. We're not in a first-world country, and I love that. So good to see outside our usual bubble.
* It's humid here. I forgot how puffy/curly my hair gets with humidity. We've discovered that Tesla must have my hair since she's got some curls going too. Pictures will follow.

OK, we're heading to the cliffs for a sunset.

Adiós.

p.s. after wandering around to the beautiful sunset, we discovered right below our apartment was a nice modern restaurant where we had a wonderful dinner while 3 ladies entertained Tesla. Perfect. So perfect...nighty night!!
