Sion, a friend from our BM camp circle of friends, owns a wholesale fish store in Oakland. I had to drop off Christopher there after he helped me move the cheapo sofa I bought. It's hard to see from the pics, but it's amazing. He has all sorts of rare fishies that people with very special tastes want...including octopi and nurse sharks! The first pic is of a baby octopus. Sion fed him some crab and we were watching it slither towards it. The last pic is Sion 'petting' the baby shark. I can tell Sion has a soft spot for the baby as he explained in caring detail how he raised him from when he was tiny and now the shark recognizes him.

Good to see some pics of the other side of the world. Looks like I am going home for xmas and will travel through SF on the return leg! Looking forward to seeing the gang and easting sun-dried tomato cream cheese. FYI, stay away from Tori Sashimi. Oishi demo abunai! I am recovering from 5 days of samonilla induced fever. Yuck!
Hello Mie, you don't know me, but I have been following your blog for a year or so, since I was looking for a sento local to my new apartment and your entry on your local sento popped up. CONGRATULATIONS! That is so wonderful - had to have a little joy-weep!!! I got engaged this summer to a fabulous Japanese guy who proposed in Parc Guell in Barcelona on our trip to England and Europe to see family. Isn't it wonderful feeling totally committed to the man who moves your world? We will marry next year - Tokyo and Liverpool for parties. I can't wait to be Mrs Furuya. CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS - you guys appear perfect for one another.
