A theme camp for Burning Man is throwing this public dance party. I can't skate very well, let alone dance!

That was a lot of fun. It was the same people who organzie the roller disco every Saturday in Golden Gate Park and who bring it out to the playa for Burning Man. They said they'll be doing this every Friday night at the Ferry Building (except the next two of course). Here's the announcement:

Hi Skaters and Burners

By popular demand, we are doin' it one more time before we pack it up

and leave for the playa!!! On Friday night, we are bringing the Black

Rock Roller Disco back to the San Francisco's waterfront.

San Francisco doesn't have a roller rink, so we plan to set up the

Black Rock Roller Disco in the Embarcadero at Market St. across from

the Ferry Building. This is where the Friday Night Skate meets every

Friday. The Black Rock Rollers are taking it over from 8:30 P.M. to

1:00 A.M.

You can come shake your groove thang with the "GodFather of Skating"

David "D" Miles as he grooves to the old school funk and roller disco

beat all night long (or until the police come!!!) This is NOT your

corporate thang. This is the a "flash" roller disco party. We have

plenty of both inline skates and roller skates. They will be available

along with safety gear for the "not ready for prime time" skaters.

The Friday Night Skate will go on as usual. Those skaters will take

off on the world famous skate party/tour around the city, but they will

return to a full blown Black Rock Roller Disco Party.

This will be a very special night. The GodFather will be celebrating

the 25th anniversary of his relationship with Rose. We met skating in

Golden Gate Park exactly 25 years to the day Aug. 20, 1979. Three kids

later, 14 skate-a-thons from S.F. to L.A. and all the rest of my

skating antics, she's been by my side ever since. Burning Man has made

me appreciate her that much more.

COSTS The event is free. That's right, I said free. However we ask

that you make a small donation towards our camp costs. No one will be

turned away whether they make a donation or not. Any donation of $15.00

or more will get you a Black Rock Roller Disco T Shirt. Check it all

out on the web at http://www.skatinplace.com/BRRD_T_Shirt.htm

The Black Rock Roller Disco will be on the Esplanade at 7:30 this

year. Please come by when you're at Burning Man and skate with us.

Remember only people who have skated the playa can be truly Black Rock

Rollers

Keep Rollin',

D. Miles Jr.

The GodFather of Skating
