Hat Day

Today, I spent 5 hours at a hat workshop taught by the one and only Jasmin Zorlu. She made Dav's famous white fluffy hat.

The hats we made were different. We used a special felt material and steamed them into a mold and folds. I'm not quite done yet (want to adorn it with small decorations), but I'm quite pleased. 5 hours well spent.

And to spice things up, we had a littel fire emergency. While we were using the steaming device and dryers, we noticed a scary burning electrical wire sorta smell. After the SOMARTS manager checked things out, he called the fire department just to be safe. It eneded up having to do with wiring from downstairs, but my my...those firemen were cute!! We all talked about them for at least 1/2 hour after they left :)

Oh wow -- lucky you! I wish there were more workshops like this where I live. Silversmithing, hatmaking, design, printing...

I like your hat. I bought a similar black one last December; similar in that it's a cloche shape and comes with these cute embelishments (are these called embelishments after all?).

Oh the cuteness of firemen ;)

Hi mademoiselle a.!!

yeah, I do like cities for that. No shortage of cool stuff to do. I was surprised at how easy it was; to create my own hat in a day!

But totally, I never 'met' a fireman before and I must say, if I were single and looking for some fun, I'd totally rig it up to 'bump into' a fireman. Never had such thoughts before, but dang, they were cute and gave the super-impression that they'd be there to save ya. : )
